So I have had this as my g-chat away message for almost a month now:
https://postsecretdotcom.files.wordpress.com/2014/11/11-goodthingyouhavetimeleft.jpg

Today a friend of mine, Mr. J-P, wrote the following as a response:

Margo. Good friend, consummate fighter, bloody and worn but never beaten, whether she knew it or not.
She fought ghosts, demons, and skeletons and arrived in a place of peace. Her honor and commitment to friendship deepened and she displayed and deeper caring for the soul than most could understand, not perfect but then again none of us are but she had an appreciation for the nonperfection of our lives and souls that helped her stand out among us.

She also had a very nice ass

I think it's the nicest thing anyone has said to my face in recent years. Ass remark not withstanding.

He gets to do my eulogy when I kick.

This would be her first lesson:

Ink

Last night I watched the movie Ink.
The premise is that at night we are visited by Storytellers, who give us dreams, or Incubi, who bring forth our worst nightmares. A battle between these forces ensues when a mysterious creature, neither Storyteller nor Incubi, Ink, steals the sleeping soul of a child named Emmma for his own needs.

Of course there's so much more to it, but I find movies of this type are better the less you know about them...

It's a beautifully little independent film in the tradition of Dark City, Donnie Darko, Pi, and Mirror Mask. Slow in parts, yes. But still, beautiful and worth watching. The score alone helped push me past my Nanowrimo count yesterday. I think it may be worth a purchase, both score and bluray when it comes out later this month.

This quote, by a the character Jacob (who there is not enough of in the film in my opinion), got under my skin.
One thing begets the next. A man has a weakness, he's flawed. That flaw leads him to guilt. The guilt leads him to shame. The shame he compensates with pride and vanity. And when pride fails, despair takes over and they all lead to his destruction. It will become his fate... Something's gotta stop the flow.

Of course, it might have something to do with that scene being my favorite of the entire movie... and totally worth watching the entire movie to get to. But that's me.

I like storytelling. I like myths. I like revelations in the chain of events...

Because what 50 Cent's 'In Da Club' really NEEDED was 'Yakety Sax' in order to make it the party anthem it was always meant to be. (Thank you [livejournal.com profile] wyldkyss for showing me this glorious gem.)

Seriously, this amuses me to no end.

So, my dear LJ Friend [livejournal.com profile] visgoth overheard a conversation a little girl was having with her imagination. Thankfully, he decided to share this with the rest of us:
I was just over at the grocery store picking up a few things. As I was going through the checkout, there was a little girl, maybe three or four years old, playing on the (powered off) electric carts nearby.

She was making somewhat quiet motor noises and periodically declaring what she imagined herself doing...

"rrrrrrrr...driving like a good girl...rrrrrrrr...driving like a good girl..."

Suddenly, the imaginary engine kicked into high gear!

"RRRRRRRR! DRIVING LIKE A BAD GIRL! RRRRRRRR! DRIVING LIKE A BAD GIRL!"

It was difficult not to burst out laughing, but I managed to keep it down to a goofy grin.

First, how AWESOME is that little girl?

Second, how many freaking ways can I use that in my life? I don't just mean behind the wheel of a moving vehicle - and, oh yes, I WILL use it behind the wheel of a moving vehicle.

But there will be other ways.

Supermarkets shopping carts.
Carnivals.
Dancing.
Fire spins.
And... Oh yes...
Summer Camp.

For those who understand that last point, I don't just mean the golf carts people! Feel free to visualize:
"rrrr driving like a good girl...rrrrr... driving like a good girl... RRRRRRR... DRIVING LIKE A BAD GIRL!!!"

I asked my cats what they thought on this obviously very pressing issue.

The large boy cat proceeded to jump in my lap and purr for 20 minutes.

The small girl cat declined to answer. She was busy chasing her tail and attacking shadows against the wall as cars passed by our house.

I then ran this through the cat to English translator. This is what I got:

"You feed us and take care of us. That's all we care about. Titles are a human thing."

[livejournal.com profile] webqatch is up for nomination. This is a guy who will do right by LJ users. I know him personally and can say this with a lot of confidence.

He needs more comments to get the nomination - go here to do so:

Yeah, I think this is much hype to do about nothing, really. But maybe I'm wrong.
